“Daisy has a kind heart and helpful hands.”
This book is close to my heart as it explores different types of families, with a focus on foster families.
I wanted to create a book for children where fostering is talked about in an accessible way, so children who are care experienced feel ‘seen’ and represented in children’s literature.
That’s basically it.
Baby Bird makes a debut in Whoopsie Daisy, but he was actually created in my mind many years ago, when my Dad would tell me ‘Hoppity-hop, Jumpety-jump & Skipety-skip’ stories as a child.
As with Daisy and the Dream Bus, there is a ‘thoughts from the author’ section at the back, for children and their grown ups to explore themes raised in the book.
